WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, the House of Representatives passed and the President signed legislation to fund the departments of Labor, Health, and Human Services, and Education for fiscal year 2019, including $678 million in additional funding toward Maternal and Child Health Block Grant in recognition of the United States' growing maternal mortality crisis. Each year, between 700 and 900 American women die from pregnancy or childbirth-related causes.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, the House of Representatives passed legislation to fund the departments of Labor, Health, and Human Services, and Education for fiscal year 2019. This includes $250 million for early childhood programs and $5.3 billion to the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG). The CCDBG is the primary source of funding for child care support for working families, a longstanding priority for Congressman Krishnamoorthi. Today, only 11% of civilian workers in the United States receive childcare assistance from their employers.
