Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Calls for Congress To Establish Clear Standards For The Public Disclosure Of Senior Officials Becoming Infected With COVID-19
SCHAUMBURG, IL – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement amid President Trump's ongoing stay at Walter Reed National Medical Center:
"As Americans hope and pray for the President's swift recovery from the coronavirus, it's imperative that Congress takes effective action to establish clear protocols for the public disclosure of senior government officials testing positive with the disease. President Trump's infection with COVID-19 has cast light on the dangers of senior government officials becoming ill, and potentially incapacitated or worse by the disease. Along with this issue stands the need to ensure the public, staff, and media are properly informed immediately when senior federal officials contract COVID-19. Establishing clear standards of transparency which balance the public's need to know against individual rights to privacy will help ensure essential public trust is maintained while setting a clear example for enabling effective contact tracing."
