WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) reintroduced the Hate Crimes Commission Act in the U.S. House of Representatives with Congresswoman Grace Meng (D-NY) and Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez (D-NY). Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) reintroduced the same bill in the U.S. Senate. This legislation creates a bipartisan commission to investigate and identify barriers faced by law enforcement agencies in reporting representative data on hate crimes throughout the United States.

SCHAUMBURG, IL On Sunday, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi presented the Village of Streamwood with a check for $330,400 for the construction of the Madison Drive Bike and Pedestrian Trail. Congressman Krishnamoorthi secured the funding for this community project as part of this year's government funding package. The Madison Drive trail will connect the recently-completed off-street path on Irving Park Road to the pedestrian/bike bridge over Route 59. Construction is set to be completed by the beginning of 2025.

WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) and Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) reintroduced the bipartisan Animal Welfare Enforcement Improvement Act (AWEIA). The legislation would improve Animal Welfare Act (AWA) enforcement by strengthening the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA's) licensing process for animal dealers and exhibitors.

Since its founding in 2019, the Caucus has been dedicated to educating Members of Congress, public servants, and community stakeholders on the history of tobacco policy and regulation—especially as it pertains to e-cigarettes, as well as the industry's responsibility for the youth vaping epidemic, and FDA regulation of tobacco products.

PALATINE, IL – This morning, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi presented William Rainey Harper College President Dr. Avis Proctor and Board Chair William Kelley with a $500,000 ceremonial check for the federal funding he secured for the college's new aviation maintenance program that provides training opportunities for students to gain technical skills critical for careers in the aviation industry, including certifications and degree programs in aviation maintenance.
