Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Sworn in as Member of 119th United States Congress

Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) was sworn in as a Member of the United States House of Representatives for the 119th Congress by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). Sworn in for his first term in 2017, Congressman Krishnamoorthi now begins his fifth term representing Chicago’s western suburbs in parts of Cook, DuPage, and Kane counties.
“It is the honor of my life to serve in Congress, and I’m excited about the new opportunities to serve my constituents in the 119th Congress,” Congressman Krishnamoorthi said. “The American people elected us to get things done, and that is what we will do. I am committed to working with colleagues from both parties to lower prescription drug costs, to increase funding for career and technical education (CTE), and to counter the threats posed to our economy and security by the Chinese Communist Party. There is no time to waste.”
During the 118th Congress, Congressman Krishnamoorthi served on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. He also served as Ranking Member of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The congressman’s upcoming committee assignments for the 119th Congress will be announced by House Democratic leadership in the coming days.
