WASHINGTON – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), joined by a bipartisan coalition of 15 other Members of Congress, introduced the Restore Trust in Congress Act, legislation to prohibit Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from trading individual stocks and other securities. The bill establishes a clear process for divestment, strong penalties for violations, and commonsense exceptions for diversified mutual funds, U.S. government bonds, and certain family or occupational assets.

SCHAUMBURG, IL – This week, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi introduced the Bringing Back Benefits Act, legislation to repeal Donald Trump’s cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The Trump-backed “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (OBBBA) slashed nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid and $186 billion from SNAP, threatening health care for more than 500,000 Illinoisans and cutting off food assistance for over 200,000 families in our state.

The package, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), served as one of the largest attacks on health care in modern history, slashing almost $1 trillion in funding for Medicaid, a program millions of Americans, including tens of thousands of Illinoisans, depend on for access to health care.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Ranking Member of the Oversight Subcommittee on Health Care and Financial Services, sent a letter to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Mehmet Oz demanding answers on how the Trump administration plans to lower prescription drug prices after passing legislation that will delay and exempt costly drugs from Medicare price negotiations, a move the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) says will cost taxpayers at least $5 billion over the next decade.
