December 10, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-8), Congressman Jesús García (IL-4), and Congressman Danny Davis (IL-7) sent a letter to Director Robert Redfield at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) requesting that the CDC extend its eviction moratorium. The Congressmen expressed their concern that if this moratorium were to expire at the end of December, over 19 million Americans would potentially face evictions.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement in response to today's meeting of the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) on Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine:

"Today, science prevailed over politics, as the independent vaccine experts on FDA's VRBPAC advisory committee carefully assessed the safety and efficacy of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine during nearly 10 hours of open public session.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi sent a letter to White House Counsel Pat Cipollone citing his concern about President Trump's reported interest in issuing preemptive pardons to members of his family, including himself. This letter follows a December 3rd letter that Congressman Krishnamoorthi sent to White House Counsel regarding the pardon of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and Congressman Paul Mitchell led a letter of over 70 Members in the U.S. House of Representatives to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to request that the College Transparency Act (CTA) be included in the year-end omnibus spending bill.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi sent a letter to President Trump urging him to actively advocate for more funding for COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts. Given the promising results of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the country must ensure that it's adequately prepared to effectively distribute a vaccine. The success of that endeavor will require increased funding from the government.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) introduced two bills to expand the capacity of the American intelligence community through the use of microelectronics and geospatial data. The bipartisan Seeding Enterprises in the Microelectronics Industry (SEMI) Act, which Congressman Krishnamoorthi introduced with Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT), would provide $15 million to the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) to be distributed in seed funds, for the development and advancement of microelectronics and computing technologies.

SCHAUMBURG, IL – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi sent letters to Emily Murphy, the Administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA), and John Ratcliffe, the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), to express his concern that the letter of "ascertainment" has not yet been signed by GSA Administrator Murphy to begin the presidential transition process and therefore presents a national security threat as the Biden Administration takes over in January.

Diwali is celebrated across the world and in the United States by the more than 3 million Americans of Indian descent, including by Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains. This year, it is commemorated on Saturday, November 14th.
