Washington, D.C. – Today, Oregon's U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), U.S. Senator Edward J. Markey (D-MA), U.S. Senator Tina Smith (D-MN), and Representatives Tom Malinowski (D-NJ-07), Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL-08), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA-07), and Jake Auchincloss (D-MA-04) are leading a congressional effort urgently requesting supplemental funding be included in the Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations bill expected to be negotiated early in the new year to support American-led efforts to vaccinate the world.

WASHINGTON –– Yesterday, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) joined with Representatives Chris Stewart (R-UT), and Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) to introduce the Clarifying Authority Over Nicotine Act of 2021. This legislation clarifies the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authority to regulate synthetic nicotine, in addition to tobacco-derived nicotine.

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) and Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT) introduced the bipartisan Monitoring China-UAE Cooperation Act. As members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the Representatives have introduced this bill to assess the relationship between China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in order to safeguard U.S. technology and national security. The report that this bill requires will be crucial to the U.S. Intelligence Community as it monitors potential threats from the Chinese Communist Party.

WASHINGTON – In today's hearing of the Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, co-founder and co-chair of the COVID-19 Global Vaccination Caucus questioned leading public health experts on the urgency of vaccinating the entire world against COVID-19 and how his Nullifying Opportunities for Variants to Infect and Decimate (NOVID) Act would achieve that goal through ensuring the production and end-to-end distribution of billions of vaccines.

Krishnamoorthi voted for the bipartisan Ocean Shipping Reform Act (H.R. 4996) to combat inflation through strengthening the overseas supply chain and bolstering exports from American businesses. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to contribute to higher consumer prices and overall inflation through costly supply chain bottlenecks, the Ocean Shipping Reform Act is the first major modernization of the global ocean shipping industry since 1998.

The bill is led in the Senate by Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA), Todd Young (R-IN), Jack Reed (D-RI), and Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA).
