The Water Environment Federation Recognizes Congressman Krishnamoorthi With Its Public Officials Award For His Contributions To Clean Water Policy

September 14, 2023

WASHINGTON – The Water Environment Federation (WEF) has recognized Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi as winner of its Public Officials Award for 2023. The WEF’s Public Officials Award is “presented to an elected or appointed public official that has made a documented, significant contribution in the areas of clean water legislation, public policy, government service, or another area of public prominence that resulted in improvements to the water environment.” Founded in 1928, WEF is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization that provides water quality professionals around the world with the latest in water quality education, training, and business opportunities. Congressman Krishnamoorthi was recognized for his clean water safety efforts including cosponsoring the Great Lakes Restoration Act, spearheading the PFAS Action Act’s House passage, fighting for expanding lead abatement programs, and for securing funding for local clean water infrastructure projects.

“I want to thank the Water Environment Federation for this award as well as for its ongoing efforts to improve water quality around the globe. As we face growing threats to clean water access in the United States and across the world, it is more important than ever that we work to improve our clean water systems through making critical investments in both our physical infrastructure and the skilled workforce necessary to keep it running. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with the WEF and its partners to make that a reality.”
