Rep. Krishnamoorthi on Giuliani Claims of Presidential Immunity: “It's a Dark Day When the President’s Lawyer Publicly Muses That the President Could Shoot James Comey and Pardon Himself for the Hit Without Being Subject to Prosecution”

June 4, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi of the Oversight Committee issued the following statement in response to claims by Rudy Giuliani that President Trump could not be subpoenaed or indicted under any circumstance, including if he "shot James Comey":

"Rudy Giuliani used to take on mob lawyers but now he sounds like one. It's a dark day when the President's lawyer publicly muses that the President could shoot James Comey and pardon himself for the hit without being subject to prosecution. The White House seems to believe that only Congress has the power to hold the President to account for any crime, no matter how heinous, and that this Congress

is too cowardly to hold the White House accountable. They must be proven wrong."
