Raja Continues AHCA Opposition In Wake Of Congressional Budget Office Report Revealing Bill's Damaging Impacts

May 24, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, lead Democrat on the Subcommittee on Healthcare, Benefits and Administrative Rules, released the following statement in response to the the Congressional Budget Office's report on the Republican American Health Care Act (AHCA) which passed the House by two votes in early May:

"The new Congressional Budget Office report tells us what we already knew: the Republican health care plan would be a disaster for hardworking families. According to this report, AHCA would strip 23 million Americans of their health care while making millions of others pay more for their insurance coverage. The Republican plan would leave one in six Americans without protections for pre-existing conditions while allowing costs to explode for those lucky enough to keep their coverage. Our health care system still has problems, but this bill would only make them worse."
