Oversight Committee Unanimously Passes Congressman Krishnamoorthi’s Bill To Rename St. Charles East Side Station Post Office As The Veterans of the Vietnam War Memorial Post Office
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's bill to rename the St. Charles East Side Station Post Office as the "Veterans of the Vietnam War Memorial Post Office" was voted on and passed unanimously by the Committee on Oversight and Accountability. This is the latest development in the legislative process to ensure that the post office is formally renamed.
"I'm so proud of the contributions of the veterans and their families in my district and across the nation. Renaming the post office in St. Charles is a way for our community to recognize and honor the men and women who have served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our great nation," Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi said. "I look forward to the official renaming official renaming of the post office when we will be able to come together to celebrate and honor their service."
This year, on March 29th, National Vietnam War Veterans Day, Congressman Krishnamoorthi introduced this bill with strong support from veterans groups and local leaders across the district. The Congressman's efforts received praise from the Department of Illinois Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander Bobby Welch, the Coalition of Veterans Organizations Board of Directors, St. Charles Mayor Lora Vitek, and others.
