April 6, 2018

SCHAUMBURG, IL — Original cosponsors Congressmen Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Richard Hudson (R-NC), Buddy Carter (R-GA), and G.K Butterfield (D-NC) hailed passage of the Senate version of their legislation, the Ceiling Fan Energy Conservation Harmonization Act. The law helps the environment by making it easier for consumers to purchase energy efficient ceiling fans. Statements from the cosponsors follow below.

"I'm very pleased the President has signed the Senate version of my bill, the Ceiling Fan Energy Conservation Harmonization Act," said Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi. "This law will help more Americans to buy energy-efficient ceiling fans that help to lower overall utility costs while at the same time streamlining regulations on retailers. This law is a win for the environment, a win for businesses, and a win for the American people. I'm proud to have worked with Congressmen Hudson, Butterfield, and Carter, as well as Senators Tillis and Heinrich, to bring this bipartisan bill to the President's desk. This is an example of what Congress can do when we come together to find bipartisan solutions for the American people."

"I am glad to see this bipartisan bill to streamline regulations on ceiling fans and save consumers money signed into law," said Rep. Richard Hudson. "Although this issue probably won't get too many headlines, it is one more example of how I'm working to bring common sense to Washington and get government out of the way."

"I am thrilled President Trump signed the Ceiling Fan Conservation Harmonization Act today," said Congressman Earl L. ‘Buddy' Carter. "This is common sense legislation that eases the burden of bureaucratic red tape for manufacturers while lowering costs for consumers. It's a win all around."

"Ceiling fans are important to my constituents in Eastern North Carolina who use them as low-cost ways to keep their homes cool during the hot and humid summers," said Congressman G. K. Butterfield. "This bill helps keep costs low by streamlining the compliance process for manufacturers - which in turn, could make things easier and more cost efficient for retailers and consumers. I am proud to have worked with my colleagues to send this legislation to the president's desk before the upcoming compliance deadlines."
