Day 14: Raja Renews Call for Investigation into Trump Administration's Kremlin Ties as Former House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa Agrees with Need for Investigation

February 27, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi renewed his call today for a full investigation by the House Oversight Committee into Gen. Michael Flynn, former National Security Advisor, and the Trump Administration's interactions with the Russian government.

Two weeks have passed since Gen. Flynn resigned as National Security Advisor to President Trump due to revelations of his unauthorized discussions of U.S. sanctions against Russia with the Russian ambassador. Gen. Flynn has still not testified under oath.

Rep. Krishnamoorthi renewed his demand for a full investigation by the House Oversight Committee as Rep. Darrell Issa, a Republican from California and the former Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, over the weekend called for a full investigation into the contacts with Russia by Trump associates.

"I demand that the House Oversight Committee get to the bottom of the ties between the Kremlin and the Trump Administration," Rep. Krishnamoorthi said. "We are facing fundamental questions of national security, and the lack of answers demands a full investigation immediately. Even House Republicans such as Darrell Issa are pushing for answers through an investigation, and I call on Chairman Jason Chaffetz to empower the House Oversight Committee to find out what happened to give Americans the answers they deserve."
