Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Uncovers That U.S. Military Had 11 “Near Misses” Of Collisions With Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon In Intelligence Committee Hearing

May 17, 2022

WASHINGTON – In today's hearing of the House Intelligence Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Counterproliferation Subcommittee on unidentified aerial phenomenon (UAP), Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi questioned Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security Ronald S. Moultrie and Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence Scott W. Bray on the American military's interactions with UAP, attempts to communicate with them, and efforts to learn more about them. During the course of his questioning, Congressman Krishnamoorthi asked Deputy Director Bray whether American assets has collided with UAP. While Bray reported that there have been no collisions so far, he also noted, "we've had at least 11 near misses."

"Today's hearing on unidentified aerial phenomenon served an important reminder of the frequency of these incidents and how close they come to potentially threatening American military assets through collisions and other means, including through eleven near misses we learned of today," said Congressman Krishnamoorthi. "The need to expand our understanding of these phenomenon is essential, not simply as a matter of curiosity but rather of our national security, and that's why it's essential that we strengthen our research and investigative efforts across all federal agencies to get to the bottom of it."
