Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Secures $14.5 Million in Funding for 15 Local Community Projects in Bipartisan Government Funding Package

March 11, 2024

WASHINGTON – Last week, President Joe Biden signed into law a six-bill minibus package passed by Congress that funds parts of the federal government for the duration of Fiscal Year 2024, averting a partial government shutdown and providing $14,490,287 in federal funding that Congressman Krishnamoorthi secured for community projects in Illinois’ Eighth Congressional District. The Community Project Funding (CPF) will address some of the most pressing needs within the district and will go towards both local and state government projects to improve community facilities and expand organizational programs.

“For the last year, my office has worked collaboratively with various community leaders to advocate for critical civic, social, public safety, and transportation projects in our community,” said Congressman Krishnamoorthi. “Today, I am proud to announce that we secured $14.5 million in federal funding that will be allocated to improve the lives of our community members across the district. From a new fire station in Itasca, to improving our roadways in Hoffman Estates and South Barrington, to building a community hall and children’s center in Poplar Creek, this federal funding touches nearly every part of our district, and the improvements made by these projects and organizations will be felt throughout our communities for years to come.”
