August 9, 2018
Press Release

SCHAUMBURG, IL – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement in response to a Congressional Research Service report confirming that his bipartisan career training law, which was signed into law last week, would significantly increase federal funding for Illinois skills-based learning and on-the-job training.

“We knew from the outset that reforming our federal career, technical and vocational education system would make a huge difference for millions of students across the country, but I’m heartened to see new research confirming that my law will increase annual funding for skills training programs here in Illinois by 10.5 percent over the next 6 years, a cumulative increase equaling $17.2 million. While this funding will expand opportunities for students across the state, our bipartisan reforms will make sure this funding is used more efficiently while also bringing educators and business leaders together to ensure that students are developing the skills they need build a middle-class life.”
