Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Responds To The Situation In Sri Lanka
WASHINGTON – In response to protests and unrest in Sri Lanka accompanied by the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement:
"As the people and government of Sri Lanka work to end the current crisis, restore stability, and address the economic challenges facing the country, there is no question as to the need for a truly democratic government that respects the human rights of all its citizens and upholds the rule of law. As part of that effort, it is essential that the Rajapaksa family and those who enabled their actions are held accountable as other past wrongs are also addressed. I hope this crisis will come to a swift and secure end which will allow all the people of Sri Lanka to find new prosperity and justice."
