Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Responds To The Evacuation Of The Rauschenberger-Abu Hamad Family From Gaza To Safety In Egypt
WASHINGTON – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement in response to the evacuation today of the Rauschenberger-Abu Hamad family, which has Elgin, IL ties, from Gaza to safety in Egypt. The Congressman and his staff have been assisting the family with their efforts to evacuate from Gaza for several weeks. Last week, Congressman Krishnamoorthi wrote to Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the need to facilitate both civilian evacuations from Gaza and humanitarian aid shipments into it, specifically citing the challenges faced by the Rauschenberger-Abu Hamad family.
“I am hugely relieved that Emilee Abuhamad Rauschenberger, Mohammed Abu Hamad, and their five children safely crossed from Gaza into Egypt today,” said Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi. “Just as my team and I have worked with Emilee’s family on a daily basis, we will continue to work with the dozens of other families we are still assisting as they also seek safety.”
