Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi On President’s Comments On Flynn Pardon: “Even Richard Nixon Never Publicly Dangled The Possibility Of Pardons For Witnesses Against Him”
SCHAUMBURG, IL – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi released the following statement in response to President Trump's comments on his consideration of pardoning Michael Flynn:
“Even Richard Nixon never publicly dangled the possibility of pardons for witnesses against him, but that’s exactly what President Trump did yesterday with his comments on Michael Flynn.
As part of his agreement with Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation, Michael Flynn is already a cooperating witness. While we don’t know the precise details of his cooperation, there have been a number of reports on the Special Counsel looking into the President’s potential efforts to obstruct justice, including through firing former FBI Director Comey after he purportedly refused the President’s request of ‘letting Flynn go.’
The President's touting of a potential pardon to an adverse witness approaches obstruction of justice. Unfortunately, this latest action adds to the growing list of actions that merit serious investigation."
