Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Leads Forum on Jobs, Narrowing Skills Gap with Expert on Artificial Intelligence
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, a co-chair of the House Democratic Caucus New Economy Task Force, led a discussion with Members of Congress and experts on jobs, education, and the skills gap to discuss how Americans can further promote commonsense policies that benefit America’s working families. Joined by co-chairs Representatives Delbene, Dingell, Soto, and their guests, Congressman Krishnamoorthi brought Jehan Wickramasuriya, a Senior Software Architect from Motorola to address the forum.
As part of the House Democratic Caucus Jobs for America effort, the New Economy Task Force met to consider ways to address the skills gap in the American workforce and create opportunities for the hardest-working individuals in the country.
“I’m glad our task force is starting to investigate the challenges and opportunities surrounding artificial intelligence,” said Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi. “AI will clearly play an increasingly central role in our economy in the decades to come and it is essential that we prepare our workforce for those changes. As the applications of artificial intelligence expand, we have to be concerned about how AI will affect the scope and nature of jobs. But, if we invest in education and workforce development, we can ensure our middle class thrives by preparing workers for the new, good-paying jobs that the productivity of artificial intelligence creates.”
