Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Introduces the Bipartisan “AI Jobs Act of 2018”
WASHINGTON, D.C.--- Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi today introduced the AI Jobs Act of 2018, partnering with Representatives Darren Soto (D-FL), Drew Ferguson (R-GA), Paul Mitchell (R-MI), Mark Takano (D-CA), Barbara Comstock (R-VA), Debbie Dingell (D-MI), Mike Gallagher (R-WI), Lisa Blunt-Rochester (D-DE), and Ralph Norman (R-SC). This legislation would direct the Department of Labor, working with businesses and research institutions, to report on the future workforce impacts of artificial intelligence, both its challenges and opportunities. In addition to its bipartisan congressional support, the AI Jobs Act of 2018 has the backing of employers and advocates, including the Intel Corporation and the Center for Data Innovation.
“I’m proud to join with my colleagues from both parties to introduce this legislation to help our workforce prepare for the ways artificial intelligence will shape the economy of the future,” said Congressman Krishnamoorthi. “Artificial intelligence will continue to present both challenges and opportunities for American workers in industries ranging from transportation to cybersecurity to advanced manufacturing. Our bipartisan legislation will help American workers prepare for the emerging job opportunities created by AI and to adapt to changes in our evolving economy.”
