Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Hails Unanimous Committee Passage Of His Bill To Rename Elgin’s Post Office The “Corporal Alex Martinez Memorial Post Office Building”
SCHAUMBURG, IL — Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi hailed this week's unanimous Oversight Committee passage of his bill, H.R.1844, to rename the Elgin Post office in honor of Corporal Alex Martinez, the first and only service person from Elgin who died in combat operations since the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
"I'm pleased the Committee on Oversight and Reform unanimously passed my bill to honor Corporal Alex Martinez by renaming the post office in Elgin the ‘Corporal Alex Martinez Memorial Post Office Building.' Corporal Martinez's honorable and selfless dedication to service demands our recognition and respect. Renaming the post office after him will rightfully recognize Corporal Martinez as a shining example of what the Elgin community is all about. I will be working with my colleagues to continue to push this legislation on through the full House and Senate to put it on the President's desk."
