Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi on EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt: “Eat Lunch in Your Office or at Chick-fil-A”

Press Release
Allegations that Pruitt Sought Chick-fil-A Franchise for Wife Using Official Resources is Ethical Breach that Should Be Investigated

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi today issued the following statement in response to reports that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt has been asked to stop eating so frequently at the White House Mess next to the Situation Room in the White House and that he used official resources to try to procure a Chick-fil-A franchise for his wife:

“Almost every day there is a new report about EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt that leaves Americans shaking their heads in disbelief. News reports have emerged that he eats so frequently at the White House Mess that Trump Administration officials have told him, along with all Cabinet officials, that they should not be eating lunch at the White House Mess every day.

Other reports have emerged that Administrator Pruitt sought a meeting with senior Chick-Fil-A executives to procure a franchise for his wife in Oklahoma. If true, the EPA Inspector General should investigate this ethical breach immediately.

When it comes to lunch, I would suggest that Administrator Pruitt eat lunch in his office. I understand there is a $43,000 taxpayer-paid phone booth there that could be a great place to dine. If not there, he should use his own money to eat lunch at Chick-fil-A or anywhere else.

It’s hard to believe that Scott Pruitt still has his job. These new revelations add to a laundry list of incidents in which Pruitt has tested ethics rules and misused taxpayer dollars for outrageous reasons.”
