Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi On Cook County Coronavirus Patient Receiving Treatment

March 2, 2020

SCHAUMBURG, IL – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL-08) issued the following statement in response to news that a suburban Cook County patient has been diagnosed with coronavirus and is currently receiving treatment:

"As county and state health officials have confirmed, a third person in Illinois has tested positive for the COVID-19 form of the coronavirus in suburban Cook County. I welcome Governor Pritzker's expansion of coronavirus testing, treatment, and public information resources across the state and it is my hope that the Centers for Disease Control will provide the assistance state officials are requesting in treating this patient and preventing the further spread of the disease.

The first two Illinoisans who tested positive for the disease have already made full recoveries, and I deeply hope the person currently being treated in Cook County will have the same prognosis. So long as the coronavirus remains a threat to our community and our country, I'll continue to work with officials and public health experts at every level of government to strengthen our prevention and response efforts against any potential outbreak."
