Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Calls For Sanctions On Syrian Regime and Russia In Response To Any Attack on Idlib

WASHINGTON, DC – Following reports of an impending Syrian and Russian military campaign to take the northwestern Syrian province of Idlib, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement:

“The Syrian government must immediately halt plans to launch a major offensive that will surely result in massive devastation and human suffering in Idlib. Backed by the Russian regime, this impending attack and potential invasion will result in even more carnage and would only deepen the unprecedented humanitarian crisis in Syria. The United States must implement stronger sanctions against both Russia and Syria if they continue to escalate this bloody civil war.”
