LEMONT, IL – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) visited Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois to address attendees at the ReCell Center Industry Collaboration Day, held in an Argonne auditorium.

“As a former engineer, I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to discuss the latest developments at Argonne, including the Aurora Exascale Supercomputer’s recent achievement of surpassing the exascale threshold, measuring over a quintillion calculations per second,”said Congressman Krishnamoorthi.“During my visit, I spoke with some of the industry’s leading researchers and innovators at the ReCell Industry Collaboration Event. With these bright minds leading the way, there is no limit to the solutions that we can generate as we keep the United States and our economy at the cutting edge of technology.”

Argonne National Laboratory, a federally-funded research and development center, is owned by the United States Department of Energy (DOE) and administered by UChicago Argonne LLC of the University of Chicago. It offers vast science and technology capabilities utilized by private industry, federal agencies, and state & local governments to address critical technical issues and increase the U.S. competitive advantage.

Argonne’s Aurora Exascale Supercomputer, housed at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF), a DOE Office of Science user facility, is one of the world’s largest GPU clusters, the world’s most powerful AI computer, and the second most powerful supercomputer in the world.

The primary benefits of Aurora include the ability for scientists to run a greater diversity of workloads, including machine learning, data-intensive tasks, and traditional simulations.
