Congressman Krishnamoorthi Urges Senate To Pass Bipartisan Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act As A Crucial Step Toward Strengthening PPP System

May 27, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi voted for the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act, which he also cosponsored, and urged his Senate colleagues to take up and pass the legislation as well:

"While the bipartisan Paycheck Protection Program has demonstrated enormous potential for helping small businesses, workers, and our economy overall, the problems in the legislation's implementation and the changing nature of the challenges our economy faces demand additional measures to strengthen the program and address its weaknesses. I was proud to cosponsor this legislation because it does precisely that through extending the period for loan forgiveness to account for stay at home orders, allowing employers to defer the payment of Social Security taxes, and granting businesses greater flexibility in the use of PPP funds. I urge my Senate colleagues to immediately pass the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act to strengthen our economy by providing critical support to businesses and workers."
