May 13, 2021

The Amendment would prohibit the Postal Service from slowing mail-delivery or decreasing service standards

WASHINGTON – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement in response to the House Oversight Committee's passage of his amendment to the Postal Service Improvement Act which included the provisions of the Delivering Envelopes Judiciously On-time Year-round Act, or DEJOY Act, which would maintain the quality of USPS service:

"I'm thrilled that the Oversight Committee approved my amendment today to ensure that, regardless of the plans of Postmaster General DeJoy or anyone else, the US Postal Service will continue its high standards of service and that it won't slow down the delivery of mail," said Congressman Krishnamoorthi. "Americans continue to depend on rapid, dependable postal service and the passage of my amendment today helped ensure they will continue to have it. I urge my colleagues to join in supporting these reforms by voting for the Postal Service Improvement Act when it comes before the full house."
