SCHAUMBURG, IL – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement in response to the second powerful earthquake in less than a month wreaking destruction on Turkey, Syria, and the broader region:

"Today's second devastating earthquake striking Turkey and Syria demands additional American aid to help the peoples of both nations. While Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the United States' commitment to provide needed assistance earlier today, time is of the essence for ongoing search and rescue missions. With the first earthquake having already caused more than 43,000 people to be killed, tens of thousands more injured, and many more displaced or still missing, American humanitarian aid and recovery resources will be essential to relief efforts as we help all those harmed by this tragedy."
