Congressman Krishnamoorthi Responds To Reports Of Daniel Snyder Agreeing To Sale Of The Washington Commanders Following The Congressman’s Oversight Investigation Into The Team’s Hostile Workplace Environment Under Snyder

April 13, 2023

WASHINGTON – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, who co-led the Committee on Oversight and Reform's multiyear investigation into the Washington Commanders' hostile workplace culture under Daniel Snyder's leadership, issued the following statement in response to reports of Snyder agreeing to sell the team:

"It is my deep hope that the sale of the Washington Commanders will allow the organization and its employees to move past the era of sexual misconduct, intimidation, and fear that emerged through Daniel Snyder's ownership and direct participation. If this sale is completed, I urge the new ownership and management of the Washington Commanders to recognize the responsibility inherent in the leadership of such a highly visible organization and to embrace the opportunity to build a winning franchise with an exemplary workplace culture that will leave Daniel Snyder's legacies far behind.

While the new ownership of the Commanders will have the opportunity to make enormous positive changes to the organization's culture, I urge the NFL to take similar steps in demonstrating its commitment to the wellbeing of all the league's employees and to fostering a safe working environment by releasing the findings of the Wilkinson and White investigations into misconduct inside the Washington Commanders organization under Daniel Snyder."

On October 21, 2021, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, as Chairman of the Oversight Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy, launched his investigation into workplace misconduct in the Washington Commanders organization and the National Football League with Oversight Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney. Over the course of the investigation, Congressional investigators reviewed millions of pages of documents, questioned dozens of witnesses, and held a briefing in which former Commanders employees shared their experiences of harassment in the organization.

The final Congressional report on the Congressman's investigation into misconduct and coverups in the Washington Commanders organization is available here.
