Congressman Krishnamoorthi Presents WINGS With $250,000 Federal Grant He Secured To Fund The Organization’s New Counseling Center In Rolling Meadows
Rolling Meadows, IL – Last night, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi joined WINGS, the largest agency serving victims of domestic violence, to present its CEO, Rebecca Darr, with a check in recognition of the $250,000 in federal funding he secured to fund the building of WINGS' new community-based counseling center. At the new counseling center in Rolling Meadows, mental health counselors will assist children and adults who have experienced domestic violence. At its completion this fall, the center will support more than 500 community members annually, building upon WINGS' other services in support of victims of domestic violence, including providing safe housing as well as career and skills training.
"I was proud to join WINGS as we celebrated the construction its new counseling center for victims of domestic violence and the $250,000 in federal funding I secured toward its completion," said Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi. "Following its completion later this fall, this center will provide vital counseling services each year to more than 500 members of the community who've experienced domestic violence. In its work as our region's leading organization supporting victims of domestic violence, WINGS makes a difference for hundreds of people each day through providing housing, counseling, support, and training. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have helped it in expanding its mission through securing funding for the new counseling center and look forward to seeing its completion this fall as well as the difference it will make."
