Congressman Krishnamoorthi Presents the Village of Schaumburg with $166,000 Check Commemorating the Funding He Secured For Its Electric Vehicle Pilot Program

July 10, 2023

SCHAUMBURG, IL – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi presented the Village of Schaumburg with a check commemorating the $166,000 in federal funding that he secured for its Electric Vehicle (EV) Pilot Program. The funding, secured through last December's government spending package, will go toward replacing two Village municipal vehicles and installing a new charging station.

"Electric Vehicles are the transportation of the future," Congressman Krishnamoorthi said. "The Village of Schaumburg, our district, and our state are committed to a future that emphasizes clean energy and green technology, and that begins with investing in the technology and resources here at home to help our community utilize the full potential of EVs moving forward."

The Congressman was joined for the check presentation ceremony by Schaumburg Mayor Tom Dailly and Schaumburg Engineering & Public Works Director Mike Hall, who both stressed the importance of prioritizing investment in zero carbon emission technology. EVs produce up to 43 percent less emissions than diesel vehicles and have been proven effective in helping tackle the climate crisis.

The Village's EV Pilot Program will be fully up and running later this year.
