Congressman Krishnamoorthi Presents Cook County with Check for $1,000,000 in Funding He Secured For New Cook County Urgent Care Center In Arlington Heights

July 6, 2023

SCHAUMBURG, IL – On Thursday, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi joined with Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle to present the Cook County Public Health System with a ceremonial check commemorating the $1,000,000 in federal community project funding he secured for a new urgent care center in Arlington Heights that will support the broader region.

"Having a wife who is an anesthesiologist and a brother who is an internist, I know very well the importance of having a top-notch medical system in place to provide quality care for those who need it, when they need it," said Congressman Krishnamoorthi. "That's why I was glad to secure $1,000,000 in funding for the Cook County Public Health System's new urgent care center in Arlington Heights, which will go a long way towards improving the county's health system and getting residents across the region the care they deserve through a new urgent care center."

"We are thrilled that we are going to be able to offer these urgent care services to the communities we serve in and around the Arlington Heights area," said Cook County Health CEO Israel Rocha. "We are committed to ensuring that patients can access the right care at the right time at the right place, and projects like this make that happen."

The federal funding that was secured as part of last year's government spending package will support the urgent care unit of the Cook County Public Health System. The urgent care center will help historically underserved and underinsured communities receive the care they need, regardless of their ability to pay. The funding will also be used to support the Urgent Care Mobile Unit, which will expand the reach of the clinic to include people that may not be able to come into the physical office location in person. Additionally, the funding will help provide basic patient and administrative equipment including EKGs, cardiac tracking, and other tools to help ensure the quality of the center's care and the scale of its capacity.

The project will be completed later this year.
