Congressman Krishnamoorthi Praises U.N. Security Council Agreement To Extend Cross-Border Humanitarian Aid Into Syria While Urging Additional Aid

SCHAUMBURG, IL – Congressman Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement in response to the U.N. Security Council's unanimous vote to extend cross-border humanitarian aid into Syria for twelve months:

"Today's vote to extend cross-border aid programs for the millions of people living in northwest Syria is a humanitarian victory that will save lives. I'm grateful that U.S. diplomats succeeded in reaching this agreement with their Russian counterparts and in ensuring that today's resolution pressed for additional international humanitarian aid for the people of Syria. While the extension of this program alone will not meet all the needs of the millions of Syrians struggling to survive in the region, it is a crucial step forward as we continue to build upon this progress."
