Congressman Krishnamoorthi On Oversight Committee Investigation Of Clinton Emails: House Republicans Would “Rather Reinvestigate 5-year Old Emails Than Stop An Ongoing Threat To Our Democracy”
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi of the House Oversight Committee issued the following statement in response to Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy’s request to interview senior FBI officials tomorrow on their involvement with the agency’s investigation of Hillary Clinton’s emails.
“House Republicans are so afraid of Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation that they would rather reinvestigate 5-year old emails than stop an ongoing threat to our democracy. After failing to hold a single hearing on Michael Flynn, who committed a felony while working in the White House by lying about his contacts with the Kremlin, Republicans are rushing to hold interviews about Hillary Clinton. Somehow, Congressional Republicans are more interested in relitigating a completed FBI investigation than addressing more than one hundred errors and omissions in the security application of Jared Kushner who failed to disclose his attempt to establish a secret back channel to Vladimir Putin’s government.
After bashing Robert Mueller for a week, House Republicans are willfully neglecting the biggest counterintelligence failure since the end of the Cold War. Our adversaries couldn’t have hoped for a better reaction than the ongoing attempts to end the investigation and undermine the special counsel.”
