Congressman Krishnamoorthi Joins The Village Of Hoffman Estates To Present Grant He Secured For $150,000 To Support Its Efforts To Break The Cycle Of Domestic Violence

May 4, 2022

Hoffman Estates, IL – This morning, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi joined Hoffman Estates Mayor McLeod, WINGS President and CEO Rebecca Darr, and Chief of Police Kathryn Cawley in a ceremony recognizing the Village's formal acceptance of a $150,000 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant the Congressman secured for the Hoffman Estates Domestic Violence Project. The initiative, led by the Village of Hoffman Estates Police Department and its Department of Health and Human Services, provides critical social services to the community as it works to combat domestic violence through expanding specialized police training, hiring a domestic violence counselor, and building an emergency fund to assist survivors of domestic violence.

"I was honored to join Hoffman Estates in today's ceremony recognizing the community's work to end the cycle of domestic violence and the $150,000 in federal funding I secured to support those efforts," said Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi. "Combatting domestic violence while supporting both victims and survivors takes a multi-faceted, community-based approach. I was proud to bring this grant to Hoffman Estates to support its outstanding initiative to train police officers on domestic violence issues; hire a specialized domestic violence counselor; and maintain a dedicated fund to help domestic violence survivors get to safety."
