March 19, 2025

SCHAUMBURG, IL – Tonight, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) hosted a town hall with more than 300 constituents, filling an entire main room and overflow space, at Roosevelt University’s Schaumburg Campus. During the town hall, Congressman Krishnamoorthi fielded audience questions on issues including Republican plans to cut Medicaid, President Trump’s efforts to eliminate the Department of Education, and Elon Musk’s plans to eliminate 80,000 employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs through his DOGE initiative, despite the reduction in services it would mean for veterans. While discussing his work to combat each of these efforts, Congressman Krishnamoorthi also discussed his commitment to defending Medicare, Social Security, and the SNAP anti-hunger program, as well as the need for citizens to make their voices heard in the face of Trump Administration cuts. As part of the town hall, Congressman Krishnamoorthi included a panel of area experts to provide addition support to constituents. The panelists were Cecilia Mendoza, Associate Director of Government Relations for the National Immigrant Justice Center, Diane Slezak, President and Chief Executive Officer for Age Options, and Robert Iverson, a Veteran Service Officer for the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.
