March 29, 2022

WASHINGTON – Last night, the House of Representatives passed S. 3294, the Senate companion of Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's legislation honoring the legacy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg with a monument in the U.S. Capitol Building. While the Senate version of the bill was led by Senator Amy Klobuchar (MN), Congressman Krishnamoorthi (IL-08) co-led the House companion bill, along with the Democratic Women's Caucus (DWC) Co-Chairs, Congresswomen Jackie Speier (CA-14), Lois Frankel (FL-21), and Brenda Lawrence (MI-14), and Vice Chair Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16). With its passage through both chambers of Congress, the legislation will now proceed to the White House for President Biden to sign it into law.

"I was proud my colleagues in the House came together to pass our legislation honoring the extraordinary life of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her trailblazing contributions to building a more inclusive, more equal, and more just America," said Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi. "Our Capitol stands not only as the home of our legislative branch, but also as a monument to our democracy and its progress. Memorializing Justice Ginsburg's role in that progress will help pass the torch she lit to future generations as they continue her work."
