Congressman Krishnamoorthi Hails Bipartisan Consensus on Need To Shut Down Sterigenics Plant Over Cancer Risks

SCHAUMBURG, IL – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement on the Sterigenics International facility and the serious public health concerns over its toxic emissions:

"I'm glad to see that Governor Rauner has joined the bipartisan consensus in support of shutting down the Sterigenics International facility in Willowbrook until public health authorities can assure the community that its dangerous emissions have ceased. The August report by the US Department of Health and Human Services revealed the unusually high cancer risks of the facility's ethylene oxide pollution. It is essential that we eliminate the threat this facility poses to the health of our community immediately."
