Press Release

SCHAUMBURG, IL – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement after the conclusion of a briefing on the current crisis in India:

“Since the surge in COVID-19 cases in India began, I’ve pressed for more significant action from our country as well as the international community, and I’ve been glad to see the Biden Administration beginning to act, including agreeing to share our supply of the Astro-Zeneca vaccine with the world and through supporting a Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property (TRIPS) waiver to expand vaccine production. However, despite our efforts so far, it’s clear we must do far more to combat this surge in COVID-19 cases in India in order to save lives there now, and many more down the line across the world and here at home. So long as COVID-19 persists anywhere, it’s a threat to people everywhere, and so our efforts must meet the full international scale of this pandemic.”
