Congressman Krishnamoorthi: Firing Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein Would Be “An Attack On Our Justice System Unseen Since Watergate”

April 10, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi released the following statement in response to reports that President Trump is actively considering firing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to limit Special Counsel Mueller's investigation:

"For President Trump to fire Deputy Attorney Rod Rosenstein for doing his job would be an attack on our justice system unseen since Watergate. If these reports are accurate, President Trump is so disturbed by the evidence and testimony that Special Counsel Mueller has assembled that he will stop at almost nothing to sabotage the investigation, including firing his own Deputy Attorney General for allowing it to continue. Members of the House and Senate from both parties have repeatedly spoken of the consequences the President would face for firing Special Counsel Mueller. They must stand by those commitments and send a clear message to the White House that firing Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein would bring the same consequences."
