Congressman Krishnamoorthi Expresses Concern Over Allegations Of Chinese Construction Along Disputed Border With India
SCHAUMBURG, IL – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement in response to a CNN report of satellite images appearing to show that the People's Republic of China has built up an area along the disputed border with India, a region which was the site of an extended standoff in 2017:
"I am aware of and concerned with the public reports surrounding Chinese military construction along the disputed border with India. If these reports are true, and I hope they are not, China's continued military provocations will continue to escalate tensions in the region. The United States will always continue to stand with our Indian partners in the Indo-Pacific region while opposing any revisionist efforts by the Chinese government or anyone else to challenge peace and stability."
In July, the U.S. House passed its annual National Defense Authorization Act which included Congressman Krishnamoorthi's bipartisan amendment calling for an end to Chinese aggression toward India along the Line of Actual Control.
