WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi released the following statement in response to Doug Jones' election to the US Senate:

"I'm heartened to see that the voters of Alabama, a state which helped give birth to the Civil Rights Movement, have rejected Roy Moore's America and the politics of division. I want to congratulate Senator-Elect Jones and to say unequivocally: Majority Leader McConnell must not be allowed to treat Senator-Elect Jones the way he treated Judge Merrick Garland. The people of Alabama must be heard and they must have their senator."
