Congressman Krishnamoorthi Call On President To Take Action On Mask Mandates In Wake Of CDC Director’s Testimony

September 16, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC – In the wake of CDC Director Robert Redfield's testimony praising facemasks and arguing they may even offer more guaranteed protection against COVID-19 than a vaccine, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement:

"The expert consensus on the value of masks is not only clear, but growing. President Trump should take immediate action to combat the spread of coronavirus by ordering the establishment of mask mandates in all federal facilities. While the legal authorities governing the power to establish mask mandates are varied across jurisdictions, the President has the opportunity to play a crucial role in strengthening efforts across the country through his personal and professional actions. To do any less would be a failure of his office to defeat this pandemic and save lives."
