AURORA, IL – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi presented the Mechanics’ Local 701 Union with $850,000 in federal community project funding he secured for the union’s efforts to construct a state-of-the-art industry training center. The federal funding was secured in the bipartisan government spending bill passed by Congress in March. The Local 701 Training Buildout project will provide those seeking to build on their skills in the trade with access to assistance and equipment to prepare the next generation of professionals.

“Earning a college degree must not be the only ticket to the middle class in America, and unions like Mechanics’ Local 701 are providing professionals with the skills and opportunities they need to build a middle-class life,” Congressman Krishnamoorthi said. “This new industry training center will open the door for higher-paying jobs for so many, and I was proud to secure the $850,000 needed to help Mechanics’ Local 701 continue driving skills education forward.”
